Retiring The Redux

Hey, gang! I hope you enjoyed the serial novel I presented here on my blog. I know I had a lot of fun writing it. I am currently editing Cattle for publication for those of you who'd rather just read it on your kindle or iPad or whatever device you use. (I might even do a paperback version!) I also wanted to take a moment and let you all know what I am planning on doing-- what I have, in fact, already begun to do.

Basically, I have decided to retire the Redux.

I have decided, after much internal debate, and after consulting my Facebook friends, to retire my pseudonym Rod Redux and rerelease my books under my real name JOSEPH DUNCAN.

I adopted Rod Redux as a pen name for a couple of different reasons. One, I was insecure about my writing skills and wanted to insulate myself from the negative reviews I was certain I was going to receive. And two, I have a demented sense of humor (as you probably know) and thought Rod Redux was a hilarious, porny-sounding name. I figured people would remember an author name as far out as Rod Redux.

It made me laugh, anyway.

Well, I'm not so insecure anymore, and a small percentage of people seem to have a real problem with my pen name. I've even gotten a few bad reviews based almost solely on their dislike of my pen name, which I find really strange, but whatever.

Anyway, for the next few weeks I am going to be updating my book files on amazon's servers so that they display my real name, and I guess I'll be designing all new paperback versions of them, too. I'm sure this is going to confuse some people, but I am hoping it will help me to reach more readers and get a little more respect in the industry. Who knows? Maybe no one will even notice. I'm just tired of this Rod guy getting all the credit for my hard work!

Is that crazy?

Probably.

Thanks, everyone. See ya around!

Joseph Duncan

  1. HI!
I am reading your Gon the vampire series right now and I love it! I love vampire novels of all kinds but yours Is one of my favorites so far. And Im glad yoou changed your name! I know a lot of authors use pen names and i kinda fgured that yours was a pen name beucse come on who has a name like that? lol adn I did read thoses same reviews of the peopel who had a problem with your pen name. I don't get it either but it is possible a few people didnt even read the books becuse of the name! you know how weird people can be so that wouldnt surprise me one bit. Anyways keep up the good work, Oh I was reading your bio on Amazon and saw oyu also loved hte furry freak brothers! me too! I read as many as I coudl get my hands on. I remember there was this hge house that about 5 guys used to live in that a girlfriend and I used ot go hang with. They had a paracute hanging on the ceiling in the maine room, ( yes a big ole house!) One of the guys who had a room way up on the 3rd floor had a giant collection of furry freak borhter comics and others I cant rember now but I spent hours sitting up there why they got high reading them, lol ok yea I got high too hey it was the 70's! ( or very ealry 80's I forget lol) but ever since I would always look for them and I even have a few reprints I have saved all these years. Id love ot get my hands on a big pile of them as I still love comics ot this day. I also read a big coletion of web comis too, hooray for free web comics! lol but sounds liek we have a lot in common. Keep up the wrting under your real name and to heck with anyone who doesnt like it. I'm an aritst ( sculptor) and I learned a long time ago you can not please everyone no matter what you do so I don't even try. I'm happy to make the people who like my work happy as should you. I mentor beginning sculptors at times and that is one of the biggest lessons I can teach. Don't listen to the nay sayers and critics who have no idea what they are talking about and just do your best because thats all you can do. I'll be reading! cant wait to get thru ths series and I'll have ot ck out your other now too!

  2. Hi, Becky. Wow, thanks for posting on my blog. It's really nice to hear from people who appreciate what you do. It does sound like we have a lot in common. I was a child of the 80's, too. I had an older cousin who lived in an old fashioned one room school house, and I would walk up the path to her house (in the afternoon, after she woke up) and she would let me read all of her comic books like the Furry Freak Brothers and Heavy Metal magazine. Things seemed much more laid back in those days, didn't they? Oh, the stories I could tell you...!

  3. Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I love the oldest living vampire series that you have written, I can't stop reading them and I hope you do more in the future. You make it seem like the vampire Gon is real through the way in which you write which is really good. keep up the good work.
